At 12:11 SFR was dispatched to a confirmed structure fire at N1749 Hwy C north of Sharon. On arrival heavy smoke was pouring from the first floor of the structure and the property owner reported the possibility of horses in the structure. Mutual Aid was requested from Clinton, Darien and Walworth.

Crews attacked and suppressed the fire in the lower portion of the structure quickly and then worked to locate the extension of the fire in the hay mow area. Heavy equipment was brought in to remove the hay from the mow of the barn. Crews left the scene at 16:00. There were no injuries to personnel, but six horses perished in the blaze prior to arrival of SFR due to smoke inhalation.
